_Plants had been used for medicinal
purposes long before the recorded history. Uses for plants. Indigenous cultures
use herbs in their healing rituals. It was found out that people in different
parts of the world tended to use the same or similar plants for the same purposes.

, malunggay is more know as nutritious food. The leaves are widely eaten. The
leaves are most often added to broth to make a simple highly nutritious soup.
The leaves are sometimes use as an ingredient in tinola, a traditional chicken
dish. The fruits are also eaten. But malunggay’s medicinal value is also now
becoming know to many filipino’s. expert found out that malunggay leaves
contain a compound “ pterygospermin” that is know in medicinal science as
having antimicrobial. Antifungal and anti bacterial properties. Malunggay has
also been shown in studies to heva an anti- tumor capacity. Scientist found
that the plants contains benyl isothiocyanate. There rae many studies that have
shown this chemical to have anti- cancer and chemoprotective capabilities. This
chemoprotective capabilities aspects is critical for those who are battling
cancer. This helps strenghten cells so that they can tolerate chemotheraphy.
Malunggay is also cosidered as a treatment of prostate cancer and skin cancer.
